Deborah Frimpong

Mrs. Deborah Frimpong is an accredited Nonviolent Resistance (NVR) Lived Experience Practitioner with nearly 12 years of dedicated NVR practice within family and social care contexts.

After completing specialist training in 2014 to support parents of children with challenging behaviours, Deborah progressed to formal NVR qualifications, achieving Level 1 and subsequently Level 2/3 certification. Since then, she has supported and trained both parents and professionals, particularly within the social care sector.

Drawing on both professional expertise of 35 years as Dental Nurse and lived experience, Deborah works as a Freelance Lived Experience NVR Practitioner, currently supporting three organisations and facilitating independent NVR groups. Her approach integrates practical NVR strategies designed to strengthen relationships, empower caregivers, and improve outcomes for families.

Mum of nine, Deborah is passionate about sharing NVR principles, which she regards as transformative across personal and professional settings and along with her faith, remains committed to equipping others with sustainable, relationship-focused tools for change and continuous “hope.

Conference Workshop

 Parent Participation - Resurrecting Hope, from Hopelessness to Hope

This workshop will demonstrate how my physical journey from Canada led me to eventually be introduced to a specialist NVR Group in the U.K. It will highlight how through NVR awareness, I was helped to recognise my feelings of shame due to learned harsh punishments and fears of my own past trauma. It will show how these past experiences led me to an emotional journey which caused disconnections and hindered my ability to be the best parent I could be. Through the process of developing my faith, empathy and forgiveness for myself and my daughter, my journey moves from hopelessness to hope with help of the principles of NVR as my tools!
