Dr Margaret Smith

Margaret has a background in teaching and communication, especially in multi agency contexts and in 2014 completed a doctorate focused on collaboration in complexity.

Margaret and Denise have been delivering NVR training since 2012 and are founding members of the NVR UK accreditation group developing the NVR practitioner pathway (Levels 1,2 and 3). In 2017, as NVR Innovations, they started training accredited practitioners to be able to deliver that pathway to others. They developed this training into a full trainer training programme (Levels 4A, B & C) now fully accredited by NVR UK.

They have both also been associate trainers at Southampton University alongside their work as NVR practitioners, trainers and supervisors.

Conference Workshop

Co-creating and delivering NVR training: towards a collaborative trainer network (with Denise Wilson)

This interactive workshop session is for everyone who already is or wants to become an NVR Trainer.

Aims of the session:

Our aims have always been allied to core NVR values, especially in empowering other to be self- sustaining and to promote collaboration, mutual support and shared learning. Training NVR trainers has been such a rewarding experience for us and we have learnt so much from all the wonderful training programmes we have seen develop. With retirement on the horizon (more exotic holidays for Denise and Margaret may eventually complete her house renovation), we wanted to focus on thinking about what could be helpful for the multiplicity of NVR trainers/training organisations represented within NVR UK. Let's share ideas!

  • How can collaboration occur helpfully? e.g. around shared delivery of training, mutual support with creating and updating materials?

  • What could a network of trainers look like? What modes of connection would be most helpful?

  • What would support this to get off the ground and be sustained? E.g., How can NVR UK be helpful here? NVR trainer group? Web page?

Please bring your thoughts!

We hope this workshop will act as a springboard to launch this and welcome you to join us!
