Creating change through connection.
I came to Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) in 2023 as a parent, when our family was being supported by social care and life felt particularly challenging. The approach helped to reduce conflict, stay connected with my children, and find a calmer, more constructive way forward.
Building on that experience, I trained and qualified as an NVR Practitioner and now work independently, supporting other families facing similar situations. The work brings together lived experience with NVR
practice, offering both group programmes and 1:1 support for parents.
This includes providing training and peer support through BANES Children’s Services, contributing to multi-agency work across ICPC, RCPC, Core Group and CIN meetings, and facilitating parent groups through
BANES Parent Carer Forum.
The families I support may be experiencing a wide range of challenges, including violence and aggression, avoidance, and withdrawal. Neurodiversity, risk outside the home, exploitation, and difficulties with education, including EBSA, are common themes.
Sessions are shaped to support open, honest conversations in a non-judgemental space, using practical, relatable examples to explore NVR principles and develop realistic, tailored next steps for each famiy. My professional practice is grounded in ongoing development and reflection. As a member of NVR UK and
the NVR Association, full professional insurance is held, alongside regular supervision and continuing
professional development to ensure safe, ethical, and effective support.
